Screaming Eagle is is one of the original Californian cult estates.

With 57 acres of vineyards, it was founded in 1986 in Oakville by Jean Phillips, a former real-estate agent.
Screaming Eagle first commercial vintage was made in 1992, only using Cabernet Sauvignon from the best parcels of the estate. Released in 1995, it received a 99-point score from Robert Parker! A few years later, the 1997 vintage was the first to receive the perfect 100/100 score. This achievement was then repeated in 2007, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2018, earning Screaming Eagle a cult status among critics and collectors.

Screaming Eagle was sold to  American billionaire Stanley Kroenke and Charles Banks in 2006. The same year, the winery launched a second wine,  'Second Flight', rebranded 'The Flight' since 1995. The winery also started producing a white wine in 2012, made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc.
